Get Your First Big Job

Course Description:

The "Get Your First Big Job" workshop is designed for professionals who are struggling to find the job of their dreams. This is for those who deserve better and somehow have been struggling to grab the right opportunity. This intensive program will help participants align their skills, mindset, and presentation to secure the career jump they believe they deserve.

Participants will work with experienced growth coaches, narrative specialists, and industry experts to refine their professional presentation and emotional readiness. By the end of the program, participants will leave with a strong narrative, a tailored action plan, and an ability to develop connections they need to get their first big job.

Course Structure:

Since our focus is your growth, all of our courses have two distinct parts:
(A) Managing one’s self
(B) Facing the world

All courses are taught by three distinct instructors, each addressing the what, how, why, which, when, where, etc., in varying degrees:

  • Growth Coach: Focuses on the mind (your thinking)
  • Narrative Artist: Focuses on communication (what you say)
  • Subject Matter Expert: Focuses on your goals in a specific field/subject (what you want and why)

Part - A: Managing one’s self

The "Get Your First Big Job" course is built around three key areas, with each component taught by a specialized instructor.

Growth Coach: Focuses on how to manage the emotional challenges of stepping into a role that you know you can do, but for some reason you did not get a chance to do so far. Challenges your understanding of what it means to do a "big job," and why it eluded you so far.

  • Overcoming self-doubt and imposter syndrome.
  • Building resilience and maintaining motivation during job searches.
  • Developing the mindset required to handle high expectations in new roles.

Narrative Specialist (Personal Branding and Communication): Focuses on crafting a story of your untapped potential that resonates with hiring managers.

  • How to position yourself as a leader in resumes, cover letters, and interviews.
  • Building a personal brand that showcases your readiness for the big job.
  • Preparing for interviews with confidence and refining your communication for employers who want outstanding talent like yours.

Subject Matter Expert (Industry-Specific Guidance): Focuses on understanding the expectations and challenges of stepping into a bigger role within a specific industry.

  • Learning the skills and qualifications needed to succeed in higher-level roles. Students will select a specific field — Currently we only offer these: Sales, Design, Engineering, Marketing, Product Management, and Finance — and work with one or more SMEs in that area.
  • Strategies for managing the transition from mid-level to senior positions.
How to present yourself as a strong candidate for competitive positions.

Part - B: Facing the world

The second key component of this course is learning how to build the right professional connections to secure that big job. To help you gain the necessary people skills, our teachers facilitate three kinds of relationships. Once you learn how to deal with each, you will be able to retain these skills for the rest of your life.

Network Building: Participants will learn how to engage with other professionals, mentors, and industry leaders to build a network that supports their career advancement. Our role is to guide you through the process of engaging with a network effectively, but your continued effort will be needed to convert those connections into opportunities. Although we expose our students to potential employers, this is not a job guarantee program.

Recruiter Connections: The course will introduce participants to internal and external recruiters who specialize in placing candidates in specialized positions.

People at Target Employers: Through networking events and SME connections, participants will have the chance to meet people who are already working in managerial positions at target employers and maybe looking for people like you. The goal is to learn how to position yourself for these roles, but the journey to secure a role is ultimately yours to pursue.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will:

Build emotional resilience: Learn to overcome the challenges of being ambitious and handling the pressures of leadership, gaining insights into what it means to grow as an expert.
Develop a compelling leadership narrative: Present themselves as ready to lead, with a professional story that reflects their strengths and capabilities so that prospective employers will come forward to give you a chance to carry a big responsibility.
Audit skill-gaps: Understand the specific skills needed to succeed as a senior in their chosen industry and identify areas for further development.
Create a clear job search plan: Develop a personalized roadmap for landing their first significant job, including application strategies and interview preparation.
Learn to build and maintain professional relationships: Gain the skills to establish connections with recruiters and industry leaders that will support their transition into senior roles.

Final Project:

Each participant will complete the course with:

  • A leadership narrative tailored for job applications (resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile).
  • A clear action plan for securing their first significant role, including networking strategies, self-presentation, and skill development.
  • The ability to connect with recruiters and people working at target employers, equipping them with the skills to pursue lucrative opportunities.

Note: In all our job search courses, we encourage our students to actively apply as soon as their Narrative Module is complete (which is usually done by the one-third of the course duration). Which means, we will be there with you in your journey as you look for a job.
